On Monday afternoons a group of ladies who live at Forestville Retirement Village can be seen knitting and chatting away. Most recently they have been making scarves and beanies for refugees who are in tent camps in the Northern Hemisphere.
Resident, Ginette organises the group and arranges for the items to be donated through the organisation, ‘Wrapped With Love’.
“It’s lovely that we can help the refugees”, says Ginette.
“The COVID-19 virus has stopped some of the ladies from coming, but it hasn’t stopped them from contributing. They knit the items at home and then pass them on.”
“Together we have contributed to many causes. We used to knit blankets for the homeless and a couple of years ago we made teddy bears for the North Shore hospital. The staff at the hospital sold the teddy bears in their gift shop and the money raised went towards new medical equipment.”
Thank you to all the wonderful ladies who have selflessly donated their time and skills. We can’t wait to see the next batch!
