Congratulations to all of the Run For Laura participants who ran either 5km or 10km on Sunday morning to raise money for Laura Boyd.
Laura, 26 suffered a stroke in 2007 and she has since been limited to communicating through her facial expressions. The money raised will go towards purchasing Laura an ‘eye gaze assistive technology device’. This will give Laura her voice back, allowing her to communicate through a computer.
It was an early start for most participants, who travelled up to 2 hours in the fog to be there for the 8am meeting time. Fortunately, not long after the Run For Laura team arrived, the fog began to lift, revealing the beautiful and sunny Kangaroo Valley Country Resort. The course took most people by surprise with its steep incline, but everyone pushed through and successfully completed their event.

The star participant was Laura herself, who was pushed along a 2km course. Everyone celebrated as she crossed the finish line and numerous people donated on the day.

Since the event, $16,000 of the $20,000 needed has been raised! Only $4,000 to go! Please keep donating at www.careworks.org.au.
