Living Care’s 2017 Excellence In Service Awards were held on Friday 17th November at the Waterview in Bicentennial Park. Guests enjoyed a delicious three-course meal, and volunteers and employees were recognised for their outstanding contribution to Living Care.
This year we were overwhelmed by the exceptional nominations received and due to this we were unable to pick just one winner. We are proud to announce that we decided to pick two equal winners for the 2017 Excellence In Service Award!
Congratulations to Debbie Whitten from The Glen Residential Care Service and Justin Lewis from Green Hills and Highfield Court Retirement Villages – the joint winners of the 2017 Excellence In Service Award! Also to Rae Doak from Clelland Lodge – the winner of the Volunteer Of The Year Award!
“Debbie is committed to improving the environment of the wing where residents with Dementia live. She treats the residents as individuals, knows their idiosyncrasies, what makes them happy and sad and treats them with dignity through individual programs such as walking in the garden, cooking, massage, flower arranging and reminiscing.”
“Justin shows a genuine understanding of the needs and concerns of residents. He is always co-operative and is very easy to get along with. He never has a bad word to say about anyone and is always very helpful and courteous. Justin makes the villages a home, not just a place to live.”
“Rae has made a significant contribution to the ‘Hearing Helper Program’. Rae is passionate and strives on each occasion in her role to enable residents not to become socially isolated due to being in situations where they are not able to communicate effectively.”
It was a great day celebrating the wonderful contribution made by Living Care volunteers and employees. These people demonstrate the signature behaviours everyday and are an inspiration to everyone.
This year we had an impressive 58 endorsed nominations and all those nominated will be recognised and celebrated at local sites.
