It is with great pleasure that Living Care announces that in the 2012/13 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) Living Care was awarded a total of 22 residential places and 90 home care places. This is the best result yet for Living Care from a single ACAR.
Under the Australian aged care system, all residential and home care places are secured through this competitive application process. Places are awarded to those applicants who best demonstrate their ability to meet the needs of the ageing population within a specific region. Announced on Friday 5th July, a total of 13,610 new aged care places were allocated across Australia.
Overall Living Care was awarded:
- 22 residential places in Albury (at Borella House)
- 37 home care places at Living Care Home Care Services Wingecarribee
- 25 home care places at Living Care Home Care Services Western Sydney
- 28 home care places at Living Care Home Care Services Maitland (new service to be commenced)
Nationally 5% of applications for home care packages were successful, however Living Care secured 64% of home care places that they applied for and was ranked 8th in Australia in terms of the total number of home care places allocated, despite the organisation’s relatively small size.
The allocation of these places to Living Care can be attributed to Living Care’s growing reputation as a provider.
We look forward to the expansion of Borella House (a building extension/renovation project is already underway) and an increase in staff numbers at our existing home care services (LCHCS Wingecarribee and LCHCS Western Sydney). Planning is also in progress for the establishment of the new home care service at Maitland.
